Doug was the founding member and driving force of Night Flight.  He passed away all too soon on Oct 21, 2008 following a brief illness.   We'll remember him musically both for his blazing and soulful tenor and soprano sax solos and his amazing soprano recorder playing in a variety of genres.   Mostly we'll remember his gentle spirit and kindness to all - he never met a stranger...   HIs good deeds are too numerous to mention, but just the fact that he taught over 10,000 students in his 40 years of teaching is a legacy that will continue to give across multiple generations to come.  We miss him every day and there will always be a seat on the bandstand for him...

Doug began study of the saxophone in 1954,  During the years of 1961 and 1962, Doug also studied oboe under Wayne Raper of the Philadelphia Orchestra.  During the 80s, Doug continued his studies of the saxophone with Atlanta saxophonist Rick Bell.  Since 1972, Doug  performed with Jazz Reflection, Alliance, Lithonia Businesman's Club, The Serpent-the Mammoth and the Chariot, and Night Flight.
